Taking It a Little Further

How many of you seem to come to new revelation in the shower? Now, seriously, I was thinking of a couple of passages that may be common, but never thoroughly thought through:

Acts 17:10-12
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

2 Tim 3:14-15
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

I thought I might provoke a few thoughts from all you out there. What "Scriptures" do you think they had, and searched and Knew that are referred to here? If you notice that phrase in 2 Tim, this is referring to scriptures that he had known "From a child".

Secondly, I guess in my limited frame of mind, I always thought of the "Bereans" as Gentiles! Sheesh! Shows my attention to detail eh? So it's an interresting thought that Paul here in Acts 17 is still teaching in "The synogogues of the Jews", and then when he is teaching them, to test what they are taught, they go to "The scriptures". Wouldn't that be the OT?

When Paul talks to Timothy, in second Tim., he says that salvation can be gained by "The holy scriptures".

My thoughts here is that "The mystery of Christ" was shown to the twelve by Christ and is that he was "The lamb slain from the foundation of the world".

Rev 13:8
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Gentile inclusion into this began in Acts 10 with Peter, and was given over to Paul to fulfill this ministry:

Col 1:25
25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

Gal 2:9
9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

Now, with this added knowlege of the mystery, salvation could be gained by the OT scriptures that "Testified" of Christ:

John 5:39
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Rom 16:25-26
25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
